Why corrections matter
-
A record is only as good as its facts
Thousands of people read these pages. One wrong name or date travels far. You can stop it.
-
We check against sources
Every page cites where it came from. Your correction is tested against those sources and yours.
-
The page shows it was checked
When you are right, the page is corrected and marked with the day it was last checked.
Questions people ask
What counts as a correction?
A wrong fact, name, date, spelling or place; something missing that matters; a photo on the wrong page; a translation that misleads.
Do I need a source?
It helps a great deal. A book, an article, a link, or a person who agreed to be named. Without one we can still look, but it takes longer.
How long does it take?
An editor triages it within two weeks. Simple fixes are made at once; others wait for a source check.
Will the page be taken down meanwhile?
No. The page stays live while a correction is checked. If the matter concerns you personally, use Request removal instead.
Will I hear back?
Yes, by email, whatever the outcome, with your reference.
