Why your photos matter
-
People see what words cannot say
A dance, a dress, a dish, a place: one photo shows a visitor what a page of text cannot.
-
Many pages still have none
Dozens of communities, sites and dishes on this site are waiting for their first photograph.
-
You keep your rights
You stay the owner. We publish under a licence you agree to and credit the photographer on every page.

They go live
With the photographer credited on every page they appear.
You are credited. Always.
Uganda Culture runs on people who share what they know. Every contribution we publish names the person it came from, in the way they choose, on every page where it appears. Credit is not a footnote here; it is the record of who keeps Uganda's culture alive.

Questions people ask
What kind of photos do you want?
Places, ceremonies, crafts, dress, dance, food, daily life. Sharp, well-lit originals are best, but a good phone photo is welcome.
Do I need permission from the people in them?
Yes, if they can be recognised. Tell us who they are and that they agreed. Crowd scenes at public events are fine.
Can I send a photo I did not take?
Only with the owner's permission. Say who took it and who owns it; we credit them, not you.
What size and format?
JPG, PNG or WEBP, up to 20 MB each, up to five per form. Send the original rather than a screenshot or a copy from social media.
Where will they appear?
In the media library, then on the pages they belong to: a community, a site, a dish, an event or a story. Each shows the credit.
Can I ask for one to be taken down?
Yes. Use Request removal with your reference. Photos of you or your family come down while we review.
